The Trill of the Chase

Me, mama, dad, little britches and Sadie went riding around last night in the jeep, down through the bottom and across the creek.  Pulling off of the oil field road, we drove quietly through the woods of black-jacks.  Searching the trees for any sign of critters, dad commented on how nothing was movin around.  Pulling out of the trees, I asked dad what he was gonna do if we saw some hogs, would he 1)try to shoot them with the 9mm pistol that he was packin or 2) forget the gun and chase them, he said that he would do both!  About 5 seconds after I ask him that, a big black spot on the side of a little rise caught my eye.  The hog lifted his head long enough to see us and for us to see that it was a hog.  The hog hit a trot and we took off.  Making a beeline for the creek, the hog shifted into 5th gear and took off.  Me, little britches and Sadie were bouncing around in the back while mama was playing look-out in the front seat for rocks as dad flew after the hog.  Hitting a buffalo trail, I bounced sideways grabbing for the roll bar, my dog and my sister.  Faster and faster we went, through a rock pile with mama hollering "ROCKS! BIG ROCKS!!" dodging rocks and big ditches.  Almost catching the hog, dad pulled out his pistol, BANG BANG BANG BANG went the gun, hitting the ground right behind the hog.  Pumping the brakes, trying to get slowed down before we got the the run off draw the led to the creek, the hog scattered for the creek, the brakes finally decided  to start working as we made a wide turn and heading for a road that was a little less hostile!Hahahaha, between me and little britches, we must've said "That was so much fun!" a 100 times, though I don't think mama was to impressed with it, we loved it!  Mama informed us that she didn't see what was so fun about it, I just said "It's the trill of the chase mama!" After all, who doesn't LOVE flying across a rock filled pasture after a hog in a jeep with no brakes?!  Mama said she'd stay at the house the next time we go hog hunting!
