History of my Land

The purpose of this post is, well, I don't really know what the purpose is.  I must've been inspired by going and watching my dad and the other cowboys Ship Cattle last week.  Anyways, the other night while on the way home from town, I took this picture:
This sign is about 5 miles south-west of my house.  The old ranch was in the heart of Osage County, Cattle Country and Indian Land.  This is the bunkhouse at the headquarters of the ranch.

And the barn......

Awesome huh?
Now then, for the really cool stuff....
This picture is of the old cowboys who used to work on the ranch back in the '40s
See the guy in the middle, holding his hat up higher than the rest?
That would be Ben Johnson Sr.(His son Ben Johnson Jr. was the actor that was in movies with John Wayne).  He is my Great-Great Grandad.  Pretty neat stuff huh?!
I wrote about this stuff on my other blog here: Little Peace of Osage County History

Anyways, I guess that's all for this pointless post!hahaha
P.S.......
Long Live....
Cowboys!!
That would be my oh so photogenic daddy the the picture above.
And Long Live....
COWGIRLS!!!
And that would be my best friend, Cattle Kate the Steer Whisperer.  She's not sure if she likes my nickname for her or not.  I find it EXTREMELY funny!hahahahahaha

The Cowboys~7/20/10

This week I've had the chance to go take pics while dad helps a local ranch ship cattle!  Tuesday(7/21/10) was the first time I went this year.  Going and taking pics meant getting up at 4:00am and following dad up to the pens that they would be shipping out of in the Blazer in the dark!  And another plus was that I was gonna get to see my best friend, Kate! So here we go with the pictures, just so ya know, there's a lot!!!!

 Unloading the horse.....
The Young Guns, C.(On left) and D.
D. didn't want his picture taken!haha
And H., he likes to have his picture taken!
 The Three Amigos, C., D. and H.
My daddy on our horse Boogie

They are both very photogenic, even when they're not trying!haha

 Another pic of everyone unloading
My best buddy Kate and her horse Blaze

Kate and her dad in the feed truck
Haha, now this one makes me laugh, this is Kate with 2 horses and a can of wasp spray, I think everyone should run for their lives!!
She told me to NOT take any pics of her that morning.......I took over 20!

Now see, that wasn't so bad was it?! Well get ready 'cuz I'm fixin' to post one with a BUNCH of pics!!WAAAHAHAHAHAA
